Delivered through a dreamy vintage acoustic lense,Sunshine Girl explores Lenks's perpetual struggle to project optimism, of better or for worse. Written largely from the perspective of motherhood;keeping the brave smiling face for the sake of the children,the theme also covers Lenka's feelings on her role as an artist and a woman, and her belief that in the end it is always better to strive for the lightness, even in dark times. Recorded with producer Tony Buchen (Courtney Barnett,The Preatures) with some of Sydney's finest soul musicians, the tone is reminiscent of 60s chanteuse, gentle vintage folk and acoustic dream pop from yesteryear.
